Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 17, 2025

Introduction

At Stenaudio, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our audio transcription service.

We've designed this policy to be clear and straightforward about our data practices. If you have any questions after reading this policy, please contact us.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide you with our audio transcription services:

  • Account information: Your name and email address when you create an account
  • Audio files: The audio content you upload for transcription
  • Transcription data: The resulting transcripts of your audio files
  • Usage data: Basic information about how you use our service

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely for the purpose of providing our transcription services:

  • To create and manage your account
  • To process and generate transcriptions of your audio files
  • To notify you about the status of your transcription jobs via email
  • To improve and maintain our service
  • To respond to your inquiries or support requests

We do not and will not use your personal information for marketing purposes.

Our Commitment to Your Data

We are committed to protecting your data integrity and privacy:

  • No LLM Training: We do not train large language models (LLMs) on your data
  • Third-Party Processors: We do not use third-party processors that train LLMs on user data
  • Data Anonymity: We do not provide any user information to third-party processors. As far as any third-party processors are concerned, all audio files are coming from the same party
  • No Data Selling: We do not and will not sell your personal information to third parties

Data Storage and Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information:

  • Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption, both at rest and in transit
  • We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data
  • We retain your data only for as long as necessary to provide you with our services
    • We store audio files for a maximum of 90 days. This number may change in the future, but ideally we'd like it to go lower. We really only keep it at all in case you want to reprocess your transcript.
    • When you delete a transcription, all record of it is removed from our databases. The only exception to this is if we are required by law to retain data — and even then, we'll push back on those demands. We don't actually want your data. We only keep it in our databases at all because it's convenient for you.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access and receive a copy of your data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict our processing of your data
  • Data portability

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
